Path Yard
Area: 180 sqm
This project aims to create a "realm of serenity" on the edge of the city. By blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors, and integrating natural textures—such as wood, rough stone, and microcement—with rich layers of vegetation, it establishes an outdoor dining space where one can let go of fatigue and breathe freely.
Due to spatial constraints, I connected the restaurant's outward-facing display facade with the inward-facing wall of the enclosure, allowing the same landscape interface to serve a dual function—presenting the garden both to the exterior and to the interior.
The landscape layout avoids rigid symmetry, employing large natural rough stones paired with a subtly arranged tapestry of low groundcover plants. A winding stone slab path meanders through layered clumps of shrubs, guiding guests deeper into the courtyard.
The staggered wooden grille fence becomes the visual anchor of the project. Rather than being fully enclosed, its horizontal slats are spaced in a rhythmic, varied pattern—allowing air and sightlines to gently filter through while ensuring privacy within the courtyard, forming a boundary that is at once translucent and restrained.
